Position Overview

A Voice Telecommunications Technician must be able to report on-site daily to perform and support the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting processes of data networks and telephony systems (ISDN, VoIP and VoSIP Devices etc.), and associated technologies for a large facility/Campus for the department of Defense (DOD) in Washington, DC. Candidate may work alone or as part of a team providing installation, deinstallation, and relocation support including, but not limited to, site preparation and installation and/or removal of cabling and wiring systems, network hardware, power, grounding, terminal equipment and associated hardware and software.



Responsibilities

    Install (pull & cut down), test and document 25 pair cables. We will be deploying hundreds of gateways which require a 25 pair cable to be pulled and cut down usually using 100-foot length cables
  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and fix issues of the data network and telephony systems (ISDN, VoIP, VoSIP, Teleconferencing Devices, cable pulling etc.), and associated technologies in conformity with DoD processes and standards.
  • Possess customer service and support skills in a high visibility environment.
  • Knowledge of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/IP protocol suite and must be well-versed with the MAC and IP addresses.
  • Support Incident Response possess problem analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Monitor the performance and health of voice network infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve voice network-related incidents, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to write technical documentation and assist in the design, implementation, and optimization of voice network solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with network architects and engineers to develop and implement voice network enhancements, upgrades, and installations.
  • Configure and manage voice protocols such as SIP ensuring compatibility and interoperability with existing systems
    Provide attention to detail and accuracy.


Required Experience/Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related IT/telecommunications experience working within the DOD environment
  • IT technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience desired
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract
  • IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent


Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Clearance: Must possess a Secret clearance


Physical Demands

Very physical position consisting of a lot of walking through the facility. Floor work requiring bending, crawling as well as overhead ladder work within open and confined spaces. closets, etc.
