MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ten (10) years hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance in heavy industry with a minimum of five (5) years of this experience being machinist experience. Additional past machinist experience will be considered in lieu of the heavy industrial experience. A 2 year technology degree in machining or equivalent machinist training from the military will also be considered in lieu of some experience.
• Ability to perform precision machining operations (within 0.0001") using equipment including engine lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, radial arm drills, hydraulic presses and key setters. This would include selection of proper materials, machine to be used, machine speeds, material feeds, etc for successful completion of the assigned task.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools in the performance of their work assignments to an accuracy of 0.0001".
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair problems with mechanical equipment including but not limited to valves, pumps, coal mills, turbines, boilers, fans and fluid drives.
• Ability to perform equipment machine drive coupling alignments using mechanical measuring methods (i.e. dial indicators, parallels, etc). Knowledge of laser alignment knowledge is a plus but not required.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings/instruction manuals and effectively communicate technical information.
• Ability to operate manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools as well as motorized equipment such as lift trucks and overhead cranes.
• Ability to work shift work, carry heavy loads, climb ladders and stairs and work in areas involving heights and hot and cold environments.
• Ability to perform proper rigging evolutions including knowledge of mathematics and physics to aid in the selection of proper wire rope or nylon slings, eyebolts, shackles, etc.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate abilities through applicable written or hands on testing.

This position is currently 7a-3p shift however you could be assigned to work 3p-11p, or 11p-7a shifts
