Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner. If you're passionate about working in the behavioral health setting and have the desire to join a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to serving our patients, we want to hear from you!

The Nurse Practitioner is requires to have an expertise in Internal Medicine and to exercise sound professional judgment while providing psychiatric care to patients in an acute hospital and/ or outpatient setting. Patient assessment, diagnosis and therapeutic interventions will be administered in close collaboration with the attending physicians and other members of the treatment team.

The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.


Qualifications

Education: Current R.N. license in the State of California. Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program. Current valid NP certification and license in the State of California.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience as a R.N. in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.

Licensure: Nurse Practitioner/ Registered Nurse

Additional Requirements: Must demonstrate professional accountability. Will practice and support established policies and procedures, perform assessment, determine diagnosis and implement therapeutic approaches. Will communicate promptly when problems are identified and collaborate and consult with physicians regarding provision of care to patients. Certification in CPR and knowledge of crisis prevention instruction are required.

  • Knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures.
  • In accordance with medical staff bylaws, will have full medical staff privileges and duties under the supervision of a collaborating licensed physician.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment and treatment planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of patient rights, advanced directives, adult and child abuse laws, and WIC5150.
  • Demonstrate professional accountability.
  • Knowledge and utilization of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Skill in interacting with multiple individuals with diverse roles and perspectives.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent, adult and geriatric).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
