Job Designation

The Commercial Specialist will report to the Commercial Manager and will act as a daily focal point for contract matters, including both commercial and U.S. Government contracts for our aerospace business. Primary responsibilities include managing activities relating to contracts for commercial and military Customers.

Job Core Responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of the Commercial Manager, the Commercial Specialist will:

  • Manage, oversee and prepare contractual agreements and documents for commercial and U.S. Government Customers in support of:

(1) Contract review of solicitations, RFIs/RFQs, proposals, agreements, and purchase orders.

(2) Cost and price analysis.

(3) Contract formation, negotiation, interpretation and administration, including validation of FAR and DFARS flow-downs.

(4) Aftermarket arrangements including product support agreements of all types.

  • Be involved in Customer negotiations, execution and collaborative contract handover process as part of an integrated cross-functional team;
  • Monitor and report on performance against contracts and assists with contract amendments, changes, revenue recognition and financial impacts, and other administrative actions as required.
  • Maintain matters in our contract management system including contracts, reports, metrics, claims, and other records.
  • Manage contractual matters for Sales and Customer Service Teams in resolving and closing contract action items.
  • Effectively communicate to ensure timely resolution of open contract actions items.
  • Assist is drafting, monitoring, and maintaining department processes and procedures.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. Willingness to work additional hours as necessary at month, quarter or annual financial close periods.

Job Required Skills

  • One to three years of direct Aerospace contracting experience supporting commercial and U.S. Government Customers in a Contracts role;
  • Must have or be able to quickly gain understanding of U.S. Government Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) including but not limited to data rights, commerciality, cost and pricing requirements, cybersecurity and safeguarding unclassified information, small business subcontract plans and government property management.
  • Working knowledge of requirements for U.S. Government aftermarket spares and repairs contracts including establishing BOAs and other contracting documents.
  • Ability to concurrently work multiple projects within requested deadlines.
  • Salesforce ICRM and/or SAP experience strongly desired.
  • Understanding of policies & procedures specific to contracting.
  • Ability to quickly and easily identify Customer requirements and supplier flow-down requirements.
  • Effective communicator, oral and written; strong interpersonal and analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills; adaptable to a variety of business situations; and
  • Ability to work within a team and foster teamwork and trust.

Required Education / Certifications

  • High School diploma or GED required. Post-Secondary Degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
  • Involvement with IACCM and/or World Commerce and Contracting (WCC)
