Summary:

UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Services is accepting applications for a full-time Acute Care Clinical Supervisor position. Supporting our Enhanced Rehabilitation program in the acute hospital setting, the Clinical Supervisor will work directly with the Therapy Services Manager to provide employee supervision of Occupational and Physical Therapists and Therapist Assistants, guide daily operations, and support program development to optimize clinical care. The selected candidate will serve as a team leader, assisting in the implementation and sustainment of unit-based care team models to continuously improve patient care outcomes and best practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Mentoring and developing Occupational and Physical Therapy staff, including direct patient care training, best practice development, and complex case management
  • Assessing clinical performance of Occupational and Physical Therapist and Therapist Assistants and human resources management
  • Conducting competency assessments and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in accordance with accrediting bodies
  • Building relationships with interprofessional teammates
  • Budget and inventory management Clinical practice responsibilities within the adult acute care setting are included. Excellent time management and communication skills are required for this fast-paced environment; clinical experience in acute care is strongly preferred. A strong work ethic and growth-oriented mindset are essential characteristics for interested applicants.
The selected candidate will work 40hr per week, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday coverage.

Responsibilities:
1. Budget/Financials -Assists in managing inventory limitations for supplies.
2. Communication - Provides regular communication to clinical staff and administrative staff by leading and/or participating in team meetings and team building activities.
3. Human Resources Management - Collaborates with manager on personnel functions for assigned clinical department(s). In conjunction with department manager interviews and selects candidates for hiring, coordinates orientation for new staff, develops work plans, contributes to writing performance reviews and disciplinary actions using hospital and departmental personnel guidelines.
4. Outreach/Community Involvement - Participates on committees that are aligned with departmental goals and the health system's mission.
5. Patient Relations - Addresses escalated patient care issues and patient complaints that cannot be resolved by frontline staff. Resolves issues by troubleshooting, root cause analysis and follow-up.
6. Productivity - As delegated by the manager supervises daily workflow, tracking issues and making adjustments accordingly. Manages the day-to-day scheduling, triaging and tracking productivity. Provides patient care including patient evaluation, treatment planning, delegation of care to support staff, discharge planning and family education.
7. Quality - Supports clinical program development and quality improvement initiatives. Leads continuous quality improvement efforts in conjunction with the department Manager.

Education Requirements:
* If working in Therapy Services: Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Recreational Therapy, Child Life or Audiology program.
* If working in Alcohol & Substance Abuse: Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* If working in Therapy Services: Licensed as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Audiologist, Child Life Therapist, or Recreational Therapist in the state of North Carolina.
* If working in Alcohol & Substance Abuse: Licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Certified Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Supervisor Intern.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Five (5) years of clinical experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
