POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The Forestry Operator/Technician position is seasonal/temporary full-time from May - September 2025.

The Forestry Operator/Technician helps in the ongoing forestry operations on Afognak Island by performing various tasks supporting the Senior Forestry Technician. Duties include but are not limited to; reforestation, tree stand improvement, and maintenance.



  • Perform and assist in stand improvement operations, and pre-commercial thinning and inspections
  • Perform and assist in tree planting, inspections, and reforestation compliance activities
  • Assist in regeneration and stocking surveys
  • Assist the Senior Forest Engineer in road and buffer layout
  • Assist with infrastructure and camp maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned


Pay rate:$23.00 to $26.00 hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong familiarity with reforestation and stand improvement
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Forestry Technician/Operator
  • Valid Drivers License
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work outdoors in harsh inclement weather for extended periods of time
  • Ability to live and work in a remote environment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to cook and clean for own personal needs


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 2 year Forestry Technician Degree
  • GIS and GPS proficient
