Job Summary |
Auburn University Libraries is seeking a Graduate Student Assistant to provide library assistance at the
RBD Help Desk. The position is located within the Research and Instruction Services department, which is responsible for providing research assistance and information literacy instruction across most disciplines at Auburn. This position shall be for a minimum duration of two academic semesters with the possibility of renewal.

Essential Functions |
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide information services and assistance to patrons at the
RBD Library's 2nd floor Help Desk. This includes providing reference, technology, and other information services as appropriate to patrons. Such services include:
- Answering research, directional, and basic technology questions via text message, online chat, in-person, and by telephone.
- Participating in thoughtful conversations with patrons regarding their research questions.
- Instructing patrons in using the Libraries' catalog and databases to locate and evaluate information that meets their needs.
- Keeping track of the number and nature of questions asked by patrons.
- Maintaining knowledge of standard library resources in all formats.
- Assisting library faculty on assigned projects that support the instructional function of the Libraries, including reference and collection development.

Minimum Qualifications |
Applicants should be students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program of study at Auburn University.

- Excellent customer service and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications |
Preference is given to applicants with strong teaching skills, computer skills, and an academic background in areas that complement the educational qualifications and subject expertise of our current Research & Instruction Librarians. |
Pay Rate |
$17.00/hour |
Work Hours |
Applicants should be available to work 15 to 20 hours per week during the semester, with a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Graduate students are also expected to work through academic breaks during open hours of the Libraries. |
