The FSQA Technician II is responsible for inspecting and manually testing products before, during, or after the manufacturing process to ensure set standards are met. This individual will Run and monitor inspection equipment, as well as record and analyze quality data. The QA Specialist will perform various functions in ensuring that set standards are achieved in the product manufacturing process. This position reports to the FSQA Supervisor.
Job Functions:


  • Perform inspections real-time on coffee, single-serve cups, bags, and other types of packaging to ensure every product is produced within required parameters.
  • Assure all products meet specification requirements and follow HARPC and Global Food Safety guidelines to ensure the finished product meets food safety and quality requirements.
  • Assist with the Implementation of technical oversight programs that help maintain quality and food safety standards to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform quality checks (color, % moisture, density, grind analysis, weights, packaging date codes, packaging integrity, brewing performance, etc.) of product startups and ongoing basis during production.
  • Support facility audits, related to quality and food safety practices such as magnets, destoner and GMP monitoring and HARPC Verification before each shift.
  • Assist with quality problems resolutions at production facilities and warehouses.
  • Educate and instruct quality technician I personnel on recommended quality assurance testing, methodologies, and resources required to achieve standards set for a product.
  • Function as an information source in the quality assurance department to assist in developing special department projects, and work in conjunction with the /assistant manager and quality assurance specialists.
  • Conduct trials and inspection for new vendors, materials, equipment, and products to ensure quality is maintained.
  • Assist with customer complaints investigations and non-conformance issues, input customer complaints and return information into ERP system.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming goods for proper disposition, review QA hold placement and disposition, insert hold information into ERP system and manage rework as needed.
  • Communicate results of quality inspection activities to management
  • Conduct equipment calibration and verification (scales, color, moisture meters, etc.)
  • Collect coffee samples for third party analysis, tasting and lead sensory evaluations activities.
  • Ensure machine startups are done properly and in a timely manner, as well as the final counts on pallets for each machine at the end of the shift.
  • Sign off on Degas Slips for Supersacks, color, rework and grinding checks.
  • Verify work orders to ensure all information is correct on the BOM before production begins, especially the BBD.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, standards, safety, and GMP requirements.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed and performing other duties as requested by management.



Requifed Qualifications:


  • BA/BS required. Prefer degree to be in a science discipline.
  • Require experience in quality inspection, auditing, testing, data collection, management and analysis, teamwork, and organizational skills to succeed in it.
  • Minimum 2-3 years QA related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with Food Safety/Security auditing procedures including GMPs, Pest Control practices and procedures, Bio-Terrorism knowledge and HACCP certification preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent listening and analytical skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas (verbally and in writing), be a self-starter and handle difficult reporting situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment), meet deadlines, make effective decisions, and handle frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to successfully handle multiple concurrent tasks/assignments simultaneously, attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy.
  • Strong initiative, ability to anticipate issues proactively.
  • Sound math and analytical skills
  • Competent computer skills
