The Physics Department at Auburn University is seeking a highly qualified individual for a Lecturer position. This is a nine-month, non-tenure track appointment. There will be opportunities for additional salary for summer teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) teach introductory undergraduate courses in physics, (2) interact with other faculty and staff to enhance pedagogical efforts in undergraduate teaching, and (3) supervise graduate teaching assistants. Opportunities to teach more advanced courses will be available based on appropriate qualifications.

The Department of Physics at Auburn University consists of 30 faculty, approximately 65 graduate students, and 60 undergraduate physics majors. About 2,000 students are taught introductory physics each semester. The department cares deeply about teaching and learning and uses evidence-based research to drive improvements in classroom best practices. Minimum Qualifications |
Applicants must possess a M.S. or equivalent degree (Ph.D. desired) in Physics or a related field at the time the appointment begins. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required. |
Desired Qualifications |
Experience in physics education research (
PER), lecture demonstration activities, and teaching large lecturer classes are desirable. Ph.D. in Physics or related field is desired. |
