Who we are and what we do:

The Division implements the Tennessee Air Quality Act and delegated programs of the federal Clean Air Act, working to maintain the purity of Tennessee's air resources consistent with the protection of human health, general welfare and physical property of the people, maximum employment and the full industrial development of the state. The Division serves 91 counties within Tennessee and oversees local air programs in Davidson, Hamilton, Knox and Shelby counties.

How you make a difference in this role:

This position makes a difference by supporting the Director, Division leadership, facilitating communication, and assisting in various aspects of environmental program management making sure the division operates smoothly. This position makes a difference by working with diverse stakeholders across multiple State and Federal agencies, interacting with both internal and external customers.

Job Overview:

This position has an opportunity to work with a collaborative, diverse team in Tennessee State government included but not limited to the Division Director, the Division Leadership Team, the staff, stockholders, and internal & external customers. This position assists the division staff as they work to protect our environment and public health as the staff monitors air quality forecasting, establishes emission standards and procedural requirements for industries through the issuance of construction and operating permits, and ensures compliance by inspecting facilities and verifying compliance with issued permits or pursuing enforcement to ensure the facility returns to compliance in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and execute the Division Director and leadership team travel, expense reporting for out of state travel and training, and calendar/meeting needs within established timelines. Support Division administration by coordinating and executing clerical and other administrative activities as requested within established timelines. Lead planning for annual leadership planning meeting, annual Division Statewide Meeting, management meetings and trainings. Coordinate required legislative reporting. Coordinate and execute annual work program agreements, financial risk assessments, and other required reporting. Assist Financial Administration with various financial activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three or more years o full-time professional staff administrative experience or related work.
