JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Abington Division of Student Affairs seeks a dynamic and engaging individual, who is committed to advancing and fostering an inclusive educational community and high impact experiences. The Cultural Program Coordinator is a member of the Student Engagement and Leadership team. The coordinator is an on-site position responsible for providing support to underrepresented students and developing programs and resources to support student cultural competency.

Responsibilities:

The coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Program support and advisement to campus multicultural and underrepresented organizations and students

  • Theme programming (i.e. Hispanic Heritage Month, Women's History Month, Disability awareness, etc.)

  • Partnering with student organizations to design and implement events and programs that focus on identity exploration, culture, social justice education, student success, and student concerns

  • Facilitating signature events (i.e. Cultural Graduation, and various multicultural and intersectional programs and resources)

  • Serving as a member of the Division of Student Affairs programming team (contributes to planning for and implementation of New Student Orientation, Welcome Days, Spring Fest, Student organization training and development ,and other campus wide events)

  • Potential hiring and supervision of student staff

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills. They will be flexible, creative, empathetic and demonstrate a desire to work in a student-facing, fast-paced environment, as part of a student-focused team that promotes and cultivates an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive. Position requires working some evening and weekend events.

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree and three (3) years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working and interacting in multicultural spaces/programs

  • Ability to facilitate training, workshops, panels, dialogues, and discussions

  • General knowledge of the methods and challenges of organizational and program management

  • Working knowledge of policy, social, and interdisciplinary issues affecting multicultural communities

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of social identities such as race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin/immigration status, age, and/or ability

This position requires successful completion of the following three publicly available clearances:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance

  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Background Check

  • Valid Driver's license

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
