Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to take on a leadership role in a dynamic and growing government contracting environment? NS2 Mission is seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee our accounting functions and ensure compliance with government contract accounting standards. This is a critical position that offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced setting while applying your expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Key Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end closing processes, including GL account reconciliations, journal entries, service center allocations, indirect cost calculations, revenue reconciliations, and other general ledger activities using JAMIS Prime accounting software.
- Ensure timely financial close and provide financial analysis and reporting to upper management.
- Oversee payroll processes, including labor batch preparation, benefits and deductions reconciliation, and PTO accrual processing.
- Manage contract setup functions, including new contract entry, contract modifications, labor category setup, and ensuring correct employee access to charge codes.
- Oversee invoice preparation and issuance to customers, resolving billing issues in coordination with program managers.
- Review subcontractor timecards and assist with processing as necessary.
- Lead monthly bank reconciliations and maintain ownership of financial accuracy.
- Manage financial audits and assist with tax compliance requirements.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure proper accounting and financial operations.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, government regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Prepare and submit annual incurred cost proposals.
- Provide technical financial guidance to managers and departments as needed.
- Continuously assess and improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy, coordinating with process owners for seamless cross-functional execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive hands-on accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong background in government contracting accounting.
- Proficiency in JAMIS or JAMIS Prime accounting software (preferred).
- Experience with ADP payroll systems (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, FAR, and CAS; CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to exercise good judgment, leadership, and maintain financial integrity.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently and effectively interact with customers, government auditors, and internal teams.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
