Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for a Summer Supply Chain Intern to join the Munitions (MUN) Business Unit (BU) Supply Chain team at our GD-OTS headquarters in St. Petersburg, FL.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various Supply Chain projects associate with our core mission. ***This is an onsite/in-person internship in St. Petersburg, FL during the dates of May 19th and August 8th***



Major Position Responsibilities

  • Provides support to professional employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study
  • Contributes to assigned projects and may assist with the development and maintenance of documentation or records
  • Learns organizational processes and procedures
  • Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff
  • May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions
  • Handles basic issues and problems
  • Assist and provide support to the Business Unit (BU) Supply Chain team and Procurement team
  • Comply with all Government, corporate and business unit policies, procedures and regulations
  • Follow requisite procedures in completing tasks assigned related to purchasing activities
  • Perform data entry/analysis of procurement data into GDOTS procurement database
  • Work closely with functional areas to identify and resolve material availability, schedule, supplier and administrative issues
  • Perform data analytics to aid in the improvement of processes and/or development of corrective actions
  • Research the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other federal government regulations to assist in the purchasing activities


Basic Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled majoring in Supply Chain, Business, or related fields and/or be within 6 months of graduation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse employee population are essential
  • Must demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, using discretion and independent judgement
  • Responds promptly to customer needs
  • Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles with a sense of urgency
  • Works within the highest level of integrity and safety
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks
  • Works under limited supervision
