AVIAN is seeking a Production Systems Engineer (Journeyman) to support our customer at Patuxent River Naval Base. The ideal candidate will develop and implement sets of techniques and/or analytic applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.

Responsibilities

The Production Systems Engineer will support the Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA-262) in Patuxent River, Maryland, working within the MQ-4C Triton Production Systems Engineering team. This team provides systems engineering and design management to optimize the weapon system. The team also manages effective interface among subsystems to ensure smooth integration and performance.

The Production Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex MQ-4C systems throughout their lifecycle. This includes ensuring all system components function cohesively and meet the needs of both users and stakeholders. The role requires expertise in systems engineering, with an emphasis on providing technical support across the entire engineering life cycle. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of dedicated aviation professionals to address and solve challenges arising from program requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

    Support the execution and management of systems engineering processes within PMA-262 Production Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Assist in the execution of the Engineering/Data Requirements Agreement Plan (EDRAP) process to ensure airworthiness artifacts are reviewed and approved for flight clearance.
  • Contribute to the development of systems engineering artifacts for Request for Proposal (RFP) responses and evaluate proposers' systems engineering artifacts.
  • Provide technical management, including schedule assessments of vendor and supplier activities.
  • Participate in ongoing interactions with other systems engineers from the Prime Contractor and Government vendors.
  • Assist in reviewing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for production line integration and evaluating technical impacts.
  • Support the Production IPT with technical reviews, requirements verification, CDRLs, and other data, ensuring technical comments from SMEs are properly addressed during document reviews.
  • Help organize, distribute, and interpret technical data related to system testing and production acceptance conducted by the Prime Contractor.
  • Coordinate Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) events, including checklist tailoring, scoring, agenda creation, event coordination, and development of related briefing materials.
  • Flexible working hours may be required.


Qualifications

Education Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field with at least 3 years of experience in systems engineering or engineering support.

Experience Required:

    • Familiarity with Systems Engineering Processes and Concepts, with the ability to communicate these concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience Desired:

    • Prior experience supporting NAVAIR programs is preferred.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to proactively handle tasks with minimal guidance and supervision.
    • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Other Requirements:

  • Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position has an on-site requirement and is not available for a fully remote candidate at this time.
  • Salary range: $85,000-$115,000 (The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.)
