Position title: Assistant Project Scientist Salary range:
The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. A reasonable full-time salary estimate for this position is $74,100 - $94,200. Percent time:
50% due to funding restrictions; we do not anticipate that this will change in the future. The duties envisioned are commensurate with a part-time appointment. Schedule is flexible, but participation in recurring Monday/Wednesday meetings on campus is strongly encouraged. Anticipated start:

Application Window Open date: March 12, 2025 Next review date: Wednesday, Mar 26, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, Apr 14, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The position will involve working with the UC Berkeley and LBL nuclear theory groups as well as students and faculty of the campus-based Physics Frontier Center N3AS. Interests of the nuclear groups include lattice QCD, many-body theory, fundamental symmetries, nuclear astrophysics, high energy heavy ion collisions, and the physics of the EIC. N3AS research focuses on multi-messenger astrophysics, specifically the coupled neutrino, dense matter, and nucleosynthetic problems that arise in studies of core-collapse supernovae and neutrino star mergers. This position will apply techniques from high-performance computing to optimize the execution of Lattice Quantum chromodynamics codes on massively parallel machines. Duties include:
