Overview:

This role will serve as a national resource for HGA's Higher Education practice, advancing the firm's ability to grow planning as a service offered to institutions across the country. You will work with diverse, integrated teams of architects, engineers, landscape architects, engagement specialists and researchers to produce comprehensive campus planning documents.



In this role you will:

    Possess a solid understanding of how to compile research, analyze community feedback, and integrate diverse data sets to create strategic, clear and actionable planning documents through written and graphic form.
  • In partnership with HGA planning leadership, creates master plans, feasibility studies, and strategic frameworks for campus development to align with institutional goals.
  • Compile and synthesize data, research findings, and community feedback into detailed planning document deliverables, working with engineers to incorporate campus infrastructure considerations and collaborating with HGA designers and landscape architects to create and/or incorporate design/landscape guidelines and visioning.
  • Prepare high-quality narrative reports and executive summaries that articulate strategic planning initiatives.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of campus usage, academic trends, and growth projections.
  • Conduct site analysis, space programming, and sustainability assessments to inform planning recommendations.
  • Prepare graphic visualizations and 3D models for massing purposes to support written deliverables, as well as presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that planning outputs align with local, state, and federal regulations, and incorporate sustainability practices.
  • Serve as a knowledge hub for best practices by updating planning guidelines, compiling and updating benchmarking and standards research for ongoing reference, and facilitating cross-team collaboration.
  • Work closely with architects, designers, and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive planning strategies.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, funding opportunities, and regulatory requirements affecting campus planning.
  • Contribute to the firm's knowledge base in campus planning best practices.


You will need to have:

  • In-depth understanding of building codes, zoning laws, environmental regulations, and sustainability principles as they apply to campus planning.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage engagement exercises with a variety of stakeholders from campus leadership to students and community members.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with remote teams effectively and efficiently
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • AICP, LEED, SITES or similar professional certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in planning tools and software such as AutoCAD, Revit, GIS, PowerBI, or SketchUp
  • Proficiency in planning documentation tools such as Adobe InDesign.
  • Proficiency in remote collaboration tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Miro
  • 5-7 years of experience in the architecture industry
  • 3+ years of experience with a focus in campus planning, urban planning, or large-scale master planning.

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $70,000 - $86,600
