The Cable Fabrication / Electrical Technician is responsible for planning layouts installs and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breakers= panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools. Will perform assignments at SelectTech's Springfield facilities that are not completely standardized or prescribed, but receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. Will be responsible for following all company safety policies and regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Performs the installation and functionally testing of electrical components and systems on per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system
  • Demonstrates effective build and repair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing, soldering and pinning of wiring
  • Performs and complies with engineering changes and modifications as required

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years of similar experience


Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • A willingness to learn is a must.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to use hand and automated tools
  • Database maintenance with Excel preferred, but not required
  • Ability to read/understand computer generated prints
  • Knowledge of Mil-Spec components preferred, but not required
  • Due to Federal Contracting requirements, applicant must be a US Citizen.
  • May be required to qualify for a Top Secret Security Clearance, if necessary per contract requirements

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
