Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of Director, Resident Services, the Courier/Driver will drive geriatric residents and/or guests to off-campus local community events, shopping and activities. The Courier/Driver will also drive residents from other off-campus events as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Transports resident/aids (wheelchair) from Oakwood Common in a bus/vehicle to a scheduled appointment in a timely manner.

  • Drives the passenger bus for facility resident off-campus events and outings including lunch trips, community outings, shopping, etc. As assigned provides the same services to other on-campus facilities.

  • Assists residents on and off the bus; assists residents with handling packages; in collaboration with Activity Coordinator and other staff/volunteers, accompanies and assists residents during community outings as requested.

  • Observes all safe vehicle operating practices and reports any accidents or personal injuries to the supervisor and security immediately.

  • In collaboration with the Maintenance Department Director and supervisor, assists in the routine maintenance of assigned vehicle; submits accurate vehicle records including fuel and repairs; ensures current validation of the fire extinguisher; ensures on-going cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Reports maintenance problems to supervisor for resolution.

  • Attends all in-service/education programs required.

  • Makes prompt delivery and pick up of confidential documents as requested by the Administration Department.

  • Demonstrates professional work behavior by following guidelines as established in the policies and procedures manual.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • LIC-Chauffeur License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire.
