Primary Purpose of Position
Serving as the face of the departments, the Department Coordinator for Management & Marketing acts as a liaison between College-level staff, administration, and department faculty, fulfilling the needs of Department Chairs, faculty, students, vendors, business connections, guest and visiting faculty, and College personnel.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school, or completion of its equivalency, and three years of office/clerical work experience, or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
Essential Job Duties
The Department Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for the Management and Marketing departments in the Belk College and effectively manages the demands and workflow of both.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Event planning and support for departmental meetings and events
  • Exam proctoring, Scantron processing, and other course-related and faculty support
  • Department budget monitoring
  • Assisting faculty with Digital Measures and departmental website updates
  • Purchasing (49erMart, P-card), supply management, P-card reconciliation, and reimbursements for faculty, visiting scholars, search candidates, guest speakers, and student organizations
  • Travel processing/expense report preparation
  • Key requests (ARCHIBUS) and room reservations
  • Supports data-entry needs for Departmental course schedule building
  • Support of the faculty recruitment process (NinerTalent system; specific duties include updating position descriptions and job postings, coordination of external advertising, applicant tracking, interview scheduling and travel reservations, and preparation of the hiring proposal) in collaboration with the department chair, search committee, and College Finance & Personnel Team

Other Work Responsibilities
The Department Coordinator must communicate effectively with a diverse audience including students, parents, faculty, and staff across campus. This person must be adaptable to periodic changes in workload.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Prior experience working in an administrative or office management role;
  • Prior experience working in higher education;
  • Experience with event planning/support;
  • Prior customer service experience; and
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
