Job Description |
The Student Success and Belonging Specialist supports retention efforts for students through outreach, support, and programming. This role develops, implements, and assesses community and belonging initiatives. Through collaboration with areas across campus, including Advising, Career, and Transfer Services as well as Admissions, the Specialist serves as a mentor and advocate, connecting students to resources, fostering positive campus culture, and assisting with recruitment of students into academic support programs. Additionally, this position serves on or chairs campus committees, manages program budgets, and supervises a student Peer Leader.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Experience |
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in student retention student affairs, student engagement, retention, and or related fields and 1 year of supervisory experience |
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with offices across campus.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Experience in planning, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive calendar of student-focused events.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret student engagement data to enhance programming and identify areas for improvement.
- Commitment to serving as a resource and advocate for students, fostering a sense of belonging and support.
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising employees.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, including active participation in student events, commencement ceremonies, and chaperoning students on day and overnight trips.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel Administration, or related field preferred
- Experience event planning
- Experience advising student organizations
- Supervisory experience
- Understanding of FERPA and Title IX

40 - 100% |
General Weekly Work Schedule |
Monday-Friday with some required evening/weekend hours. Work schedule to be determined by the supervisor. |
