Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Electrical Designer team. This position requires knowledge and application of fundamental design/drafting concepts, practices, procedures, and established standards to produce products and provide services that are of high quality, striving for zero defects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Prepare naval nuclear reactor plant instrumentation and control electrical system schematics

* Provide wiring/cabling lists, interconnection diagrams, etc. necessary for shipyard construction, installation, and use of equipment associated with a functional system

* Check system equipment vendor drawings for accuracy and function

* Generate layouts and subsequent preparation of final system schematics for naval nuclear reactor plan instrumentation and control systems

* May be required to direct the activities of other design personnel fostering a positive team environment

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

* Associate's degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent

* Knowledge of fundamental design and drafting concepts

Preferred Skills

* Demonstrated knowledge and application of fundamental design exposure obtained through internship, work experience, or school project

* GPA of 2.8 or higher

* Positive academic performance in mathematical and physical science course work

* Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate electrical design concepts

* Demonstrated ability to research assignments, identify key tasks and milestones, and complete assignments as planned to established customer commitments

* Demonstrated ability to manage work tasks with the appropriate level of independence

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

* Demonstrated ability to provide high level customer service

Pay Range

$74,005.88 annually

Jobs categorized as subject to a collective bargaining agreement will adhere to the pay rates, wage increases, progression schedules, and other parameters identified and negotiated in said agreements. Wages and other compensation details are subject to change based negotiated changes to the collective bargaining agreements.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel.

All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
