Description
a. Faculty/leadership position within the Keck School of Medicine's Master ofPerfusion Sciences program to foster the growth and development of the MSPSprogram. General responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction,as well as scholarly, administrative, and professional activities.
B. Duties and Responsibilities
a. The Program Director shall have thorough knowledge and understanding of theStandards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs inPerfusion, as published by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied HealthPrograms (CAAHEP).
b.The Program Director will maintain and oversee all relationships relevant to theprogram, including (but not limited to) the Accreditation Committee-PerfusionEducation (AC-PE), USC, KSOM, and other academic perfusion programs.
c,The Program Director will collaborate with faculty of other academic,professional, and clinical programs within KSOM. They will attend monthlyProgram Director's Meetings within KSOM.
d.The Program Director will participate in on-line and in-person activities asrequested by the University.
e.The Program Director will provide financial oversight and leadership of theprogram's budget and resources, reporting to the department's Chief FinancialOfficer.
f.The Program Director will maintain and oversee the program materials, includingthe program website, student handbook, and any other USC/KSOM requiredmaterials.
g.The Program Director will oversee the self-study documentation required forinitial accreditation by CAAHEP, progress reports (when required), and willmaintain communication with the CAAHEP/AC-PE for continuing accreditation.
h.The Program Director will monitor and submit program data reports as requiredby the AC-PE.
i.Clinical
i.The Program Director will establish and maintain competency with allprocedures, equipment, and methods related to cardiovascularperfusion.
ii.The Program Director, along with the Clinical Coordinator, will maintainauthority and oversight over the relationships between the students andtheir clinical instructors, as well as between the students and thesurgical team.j.
i. Continuing Education
The Program Director will participate in on-line and in-person educational activities offered by the University when applicable.
k.Program Admittance
i.The Program Director will provide leadership in student recruitment, selection activities, and matriculation of students into the MSPS Program each year.
1.The Program Director will establish program requirements, timeline, and prerequisites.
2.The Program Director will oversee application review and extend offers for personal interviews of applicants.
3.The Program Director will participate in personal interviews, decisions for admittance, and extend offers for admittance.
4.The Program Director will assist with the matriculation of students into the USC MSPS program once an offer is accepted.
l.Student Progression
i.The Program Director will oversee the progression of the students through the MSPS Program.
1.The Program Director will maintain knowledge of every student's program progression, both clinically and academically.
2.The Program Director will intervene when necessary to create a remediation plan for students or recommend interventions such as academic probation or program dismissal.
C. Requirements
a.Certification: Current certification as a perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
b.Education: completion of master's degree or higher
c.Experience:
i.at least five years of experience as a perfusionist
ii.at least two years of experience as an instructor in an accredited educational program.
d. Special Requirements
i.Must maintain faculty appointment within KSOM
The annual base salary for this position is $275,000.
