Overview:

Are you a technical professional who is passionate about how built environment technologies are planned, designed, are planned? If you've led teams in systems thinking, possess experience in the creative application of technology within multipile building types, HGA has an exciting opportunity for a you as a Building Technololgy Systems Specialist.

This is a leadership position expanding the HGA Building Technologies department's footprint to the West Coast. This position will work directly with HGA Principals to differentiate HGA from its competitors through the application of transformational building technologies and build upon current department success. Additionally, this position will lead the Building Technologies design scope on projects; meetings with clients ideate solutions, determine project requirements, and lead a design team to create construction documents for projects.

We recognize that there is a wide range of low voltage building systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in general building technologies with the ability to apply multiple technologies strategically to improve our client's businesses in these market sectors: public, corporate, higher education, arts and culture, science and technology, and healthcare. Typical experience might cover systems such as:

    Wired and Wireless Voice and Data Networks
  • Audiovisual systems including presentation, digital signage, etc.
  • Security systems including access control, video surveillance, duress, etc
  • Real Time Locating Systems
  • Building Management/Automation Systems


In this role you will:

  1. Works closely with the Building Technologies team to design and document technology systems as required for our projects and well in a highly collaborative team environment.
  2. Leads meetings with client leadership and stakeholders to discuss project and technology related goals, concepts, budgets and design details
  3. Strategizes with internal and external teams to develop current and future technology solutions for application to our client's organizations
  4. Works with internal and external teams to develop and implement decision making processes and build consensus around project related decisions
  5. Works with client teams to understand current technologies and develop strategies and processes to evaluate and implement new technologies
  6. Clearly and concisely communicates technology concepts to technical and non-technical clientele
  7. Develops systems designs via various processes and deliverables including: Basis of Design, functional diagrams, wiring/connectivity diagrams, system flows, bills of materials, specifications, and others
  8. Comfortable working within the SD/DD/CD/CA design process
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and self-motivated who can proactively track and work towards assignments, managing workload within a team environment and seeking assistance when needed
  10. Strong understanding and comfortable with the use of Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite
  11. Clear, concise, and succinct in written and oral communications; familiar with basic report writing
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills will be needed to develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other team members


You will need to have:

  • A B.S. degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or other applicable design and engineering field
  • 5-10 years of experience in the design of Low Voltage Systems including Telecommunications Infrastructure, Security Systems - Video Surveillance, Access Control, Intrusion/Duress, Audio/Video Systems, Digital Signage and Paging/Sound Masking Systems preferred
  • Willingness to obtain certifications in their low voltage specialty
  • Professional Engineering license (PE) is preferred
  • Willingness to seek and obtain new certifications as needed to perform the role
  • Manufacturer certifications in relevant design capabilities and systems/product understanding are a plus
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and other applicable BIM related tools and software


Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $83,200 - $120,800.
