The Senior Quality Engineer plans and directs activities related to the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for assigned processes, materials, and products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage overall qualityof assigned product lines, leading the cross-functional team to develop and implement a robust product quality program, including policies, procedures, measurements, non-conforming product control, and associated forms and training.*

  • Develop and initiate standardssuch as mistake-proofing devices, statistical process control (SPC), trend charts, cost-effective sample plans, methods for assigned product lines, material inspection, testing, and evaluation in accordance with ISO standards.*

  • Facilitate effective product/process corrective actions (CAR)using 8D problem-solving methodology, conduct necessary Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), process failure modes and effects analysis (pFMEA), and train others in pFMEA, MSA, and CAR/8D processes. Maintain appropriate documents and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.*

  • Implement necessary supplier and internal audits, including layered process audits (LPA) and Finished Good audits, to improve compliance with ISO procedures, specifications, and performance requirements.

  • Manage and implement effective product/process controlsto reduce the occurrence of customer complaints, scrap, and/or product deviations (waivers) for assigned product lines.*

  • Supervise the daily activitiesof assigned personnel engaged in measuring and testing products and gathering data concerning materials, products, or process quality and reliability.

  • Develop assigned personnelto ensure flexibility and knowledge of a broad range of quality tools, techniques, and processes.

  • Identify, lead, support, and/or participate in projects(new product development, cost reduction, quality, and BOS continuous improvement). Take ownership and accountability of the quality deliverables (including PPAP and manufacturing FMEA/control plans as appropriate) to support company goals and objectives.

  • Develop, monitor, and drive improvements in quality metricsincluding Cost of Quality (COQ), First Pass Yield (FPY), customer complaints, quality process efficiency, and responsiveness for assigned product lines.*

  • Maintain the integrity of the Quality Management System, including the ISO compliance structure, ensuring proper documentation processes, employee training systems, and audit effectiveness.

  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 7+ years of related experience in the Quality department of an ISO/TS/QS manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Minitab. Lotus Notes or QSi is a plus.

  • Ability and willingness to travel (less than 20%). Some travel may be international, requiring the ability to obtain/hold a passport and necessary visas.

  • CQE, Six Sigma, ISO auditor, and/or Lean Manufacturing certifications are beneficial.
