The Environmental Director provides strong leadership by empowering the Clow Environmental team, promoting company-wide environmental awareness and support to deliver world-class results

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

Employee Experience

  • Ensure 100% compliance with all Environmental regulations 100% of the time.

Leadership

  • Score of 4.5/5 or above on 360 reviews.
  • Lead annual departmental strategic planning session that aligns annual Environmental goals with those of the organization, set quarterly rocks within the department and hold team members accountable through monthly check-ins and quarterly planning meetings.

Sustainability

  • Lead at least 2 progressive, pollution prevention projects per year.

CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE:

  • Compliance Leadership (50%) This role is a leader within the company, promoting Environmental excellence by honoringour environment, responsibility to our community, and a need for sustainability in each and every team member, helping the Environmental team to transform a moral obligation into compelling motivation. Monitor Clow's adherence and compliance to all legal and corporate environmental standards, as well as acting as a mentor to the Environmental staff to help ensure that all permits are up to date and all environmental reporting including required reports to government agencies, monitoring facility status in achieving corporate environmental goals, and ensuring tracking closure of all non-compliance corrective action. Partner with the Environmental Manager to be the go-to resource for environmental expertise on capital projects, manage all environmental consultants, and be the go-to contact with any compliance representatives and regulators. Collaborate with and manage direct reports to ensure compliance and create opportunity for their personal improvement to guide them in partnering with department managers in regular review meetings to ensure compliance with applicable laws, verify that all changes are being documented according to Management of Change Procedures and effectively evaluate Clow's competency with compliance topics.
  • Strategy & Planning (30%) Guide collaboration with Environmental and production management on opportunities to reduce environmental footprint, align initiatives with needs of production, and direct implementation of corporate strategies. Understand technical software relating to environmental compliance topics, and take initiative to help departments use IT upgrades to their fullest potential. Reviewall environmental investigations related to non-compliance issues.
  • Environmental Excellence (10%) Inspire company-wide support for environmental conservation through promoting environmental efforts, highlighting successful improvements, and championing employee involvement in environmental issues and activities in the facility. Monitor the development of subcommittees for environmental issues at both plants to further this agenda and create strong relationships within the company be considered a resource for all salaried team members.
  • Community Engagement (10%) Help to position Clow Valve as a global leader by minimizing its environmental impact and fostering strong connections within our community. Assist the Environmental Manager in creating engaging and visible opportunities to collaborate with internal and external environmental personnel on environmental related topics.
Qualifications

Technical Skills

Required:

  • Proven expert in all aspects of air, water, waste and EPCRA.
  • Microsoft Suite Experience.
  • Proven success in Environmental compliance.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proven experience in DAKOTA Tracer program or other environmental compliance software.

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in any science-related field required.
  • 15+ years of environmental compliance experience required with expertise in air, water, waste and EPCRA.
  • 5-7 years of previous leadership experience required.
