Overview

The Associate Director, Advanced Analytics & Data Science will lead efforts driving competitive foresight and actioning for the commercial organization through predictive and prescriptive analytics, machine learning pipelines, and AI workflows. This role will focus on product-based delivery of data science solutions that generate business value within and across relevant global markets.

As part of the Advanced Analytics COE, this role will partner closely with COE team members and internal business stakeholders to define, propose, and deliver fit-for-purpose data science solutions for key business challenges, partnering closely with the business to ensure strategic alignment and operational pull-through. Each team member is also expected to support initiatives and product development outside of their main focus areas as needed by the business.

There is an incredible opportunity to shape the commercial organization in the critical competencies mentioned above, particularly in customer experience and innovative practices.

The position will be based in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Analytical Projects: Independently spearhead analytics and data science initiatives, focusing on complex projects that drive business-critical outcomes such as optimizing product launch strategies and enhancing market share.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to deliver comprehensive analytical solutions that support business objectives.
  • Advanced Analytics Application: Implement machine learning and AI techniques for predictive and prescriptive analytics, contributing to initiatives like forecasting patient journey events.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate complex insights to stakeholders, including executive leadership, through data visualization and compelling presentations.
  • Strategic Development: Develop and refine analytics strategies that align with regional and global business goals, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Innovation Promotion: Advocate for and implement best practices in analytical development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Regional Focus with Global Integration: Lead regional analytics efforts while ensuring alignment and integration with global strategies.
  • Project Management: Balance multiple priorities, managing projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 9 years in commercial advanced analytics or data science, with a focus on the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong healthcare/life science background.
  • Deep understanding of relevant healthcare markets and ability to develop and implement analytics strategies that drive business success
  • Advanced proficiency in analytics tools such as SQL/Spark, dbt, Python, R, as well as AI/ML frameworks and APIs
  • Experience with EHR, administrative claims, and laboratory data (e.g., IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony claims data)
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex data insights to diverse audiences, including senior executives
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Commitment to promoting and adopting innovative analytical approaches and best practices
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects independently and mentoring team members
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills
