Job Summary

Provides business and technical expertise to support the development and administration of the company's operations activities in compliance with pipeline safety regulations and company operations standards throughout CenterPoint Energy Gas Operations. Develops and implements processes and procedures and works with field personnel, engineers, technical specialists, regulatory agencies, operating regions, and departments to facilitate an ongoing understanding of, and ensure compliance with, regulatory initiatives and company policy across all Gas Operations. Develops, implements and monitors standardized processes and key regulatory control mechanisms to insure consistent and uniform compliance in all jurisdictions. Establishes an environment where compliance is proactive, and the company is fully prepared to meet all regulatory audit standards at any time. Provides subject matter expertise and trade knowledge to aid operational compliance, incident response, reporting and investigation, and policy development and standardization.

**This position will report to our office in New Braunfels, TX.

Essential Functions



  • Interpret, develop, implement and monitor key regulatory control mechanisms to support compliance with all applicable federal and state rules and regulations and to lead adherence to compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with the coordination of federal and state regulatory inspections, responses, and reporting. Perform regional pre-audits, on-site incident investigations, incident reporting, and safety-related condition analyses and reporting.
  • Provides compliance support and operations expertise to Gas Operations in fashioning policies and procedures concerning technical training, operator qualification, damage prevention, and public awareness.
  • Interprets applicable federal and state regulations, agreements, policies and procedures and provide solutions for company compliance.
  • Support development, modification, and communication of new policies, procedures and guidelines for Gas Operations, including collaboration with Gas Strategy, Management of Change, Operational Practices, and Change Management, and operations leadership.
  • Creates and maintains open dialogues with departments, requests information and responds by providing suggestions, alternatives and assistance. Leverages relationships to identify opportunities for improvement and develops solutions to operational issues throughout Gas Operations.
  • Interfaces with management to identify best practices and ensure consistent operational procedures throughout the organization.
  • Assists with coordinating incident investigations and root cause analysis, determinations and recommendations.
  • Serves on various internal committees, as well as external gas industry teams, providing company-level perspective to process improvements and problem resolution.



Education Description

Bachelor's degree is preferred but will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy experience for non-degree candidates.

Experience



  • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Pipeline operations with subject matter expertise in at least one (1) of the following areas: Regulatory, Gas Operations, Procedure Writing, Engineering, and/or Process/Continuous Improvement. In addition to the previously mentioned expertise areas, experience in Agile Methodology will be considered.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and able to maintain a good driving record.
  • Relationship Building and ability to support a team environment.
  • CNP Policies and Procedures as applicable to the Texas Administrative Codes preferred.
  • SAP Reporting, including SAP WO Reviews for data accuracy preferred.
  • Operations experience in service, construction, and/or Technical Field Operations preferred.
  • Project Management preferred.
  • Technical Training preferred.
  • Risk Mitigation preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel reporting, including generating Ad-hoc Reports, PivotTables, etc. preferred.
