Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Generalist functions as a generalist and strategic partner to support team members and leaders, ensuring alignment of HR support with St. Mary's culture and business objectives. The HR Generalist provides a range of HR support which includes policy administration, employee orientation, talent acquisition, retention strategies, employee relations and communications, and development of strategies that enhance employee engagement/employer of choice goals. Must be resourceful and flexible to meet the ever-changing needs of leadership in a dynamic, high performing organization. Demonstrates service excellence behaviors and conveys professionalism at all times. Demonstrates assessment, problem solving, project management, and communications skills resulting in high reliability processes and optimal outcomes. Shares accountability for and cross trains to support Human Resources services with the Director and Sr. HR Generalist.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

I. Employee Engagement
* Performs employee rounding to develop positive respectful relationships at all levels of the organization.
* Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
* Plans, organizes and executes employee activities and chairs or participates in committees and task forces for employee engagement survey, service awards, and other events to ensure two-way communication, recognition and overall engagement.
* Conducts new employee orientation ensuring optimal employee experience and improved engagement during on-boarding process.


II. Recruitment/Retention
* Analyzes and trends HR metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies that improve employee retention. These metrics include turnover, exit interviews and stay interviews.
* Serves as Talent Acquisition liaison with assigned services, ensuring proactive recruitment planning and sourcing of qualified candidates.
* Leads in-house and external marketing resources to provide direction on recruitment and retention marketing strategies that attract and retain qualified candidates.
* Manages all aspects of the recruitment process, including use of the Applicant Tracking System technology.


III. Operations/Leadership
* Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws.
* Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to managers (coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions).
* Partners with HRD to manage and resolve employee relations issues.
* Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
* Partners with HRD on policies and procedure roll-out and interpretation.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Certification/Licensure: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or CHHR certification preferred.

Professional Knowledge: Strong oral and written communication and advanced problem solving skills. Ability to apply high reliability principles ensuring efficient, effective, customer-centered processes and services resulting in targeted outcomes. Demonstrated abilities in project planning and management. Working knowledge of employment law (federal, state, and local). Ability to multi-task with accuracy and attention to detail. Prior experience in Human Resources in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Education/Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in a similar capacity. 3+ years relevant experience preferred. Bachelors Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships. Strong customer relations/customer complaint resolution skills required. Must maintain high level of confidentiality.

Equipment, Applications and Tools Knowledge: Advanced proficiency with MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Proficiency in using standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements: Occasional to interact with staff at off-site locations and/or visit educational institutions and other recruitment sites.
