About the Callaway Energy Center

The Callaway Energy Center is a nuclear facility located in mid-Missouri. The Energy Center has more than 800 employees and contractors working at the facility, and it has established a strong record of safe operation throughout its 30-year operating history. The Energy Center is a highly efficient, low-cost, sustainable source of electricity for Ameren Missouri's 1.2 million customers.

About The Position

The Procedure Writer interfaces with plant departments to enhance the quality of procedures and written instructions, keeping them current with plant needs and configuration changes. The procedure writer may provide knowledge and expertise in the areas of Maintenance, Operations or Engineering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and revise plant Administrative, departmental, surveillance and technical/operating procedures; perform cross-disciplinary reviews of procedures; create new procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to personnel revising written instructions and policies.
  • Complete procedure and written instruction revisions timely to the needs of the work schedule and the craft.
  • Review Temporary Modifications, engineering resolutions and recommendations, licensing document changes, and plant design changes for applicability to written instructions and procedures.
  • Prepare briefs, summaries, and reports, if required, regarding the content of changes to procedure revisions. Present briefs, summaries, or reports as required.
  • Review root cause determinations and corrective actions for implementation of needed procedure changes.
  • Perform internal assessments to ensure compliance with commitments and regulatory requirements for plant Administrative, departmental and technical procedures and processes.
  • Conduct training as a Subject Matter Expert in the procedure preparation, review and approval processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate implementation of the Callaway Energy Center (CEC) Corrective Action Program as it relates to corrective action documents and enhancements impacting procedures and written instructions.
  • Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required RERP response time.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.) from an accredited university OR current/previous RO/SRO licensure required. 5+ years of relevant experience (e.g., nuclear operations, maintenance, engineering, procedure writing, people leadership, continuous improvement, Six Sigma, human performance and/or roles requiring significant articulation/improvement of processes) required. In lieu of degree or licensure, may consider 9+ years of relevant experience with an associated skillset. College-level English composition coursework or technical writing coursework preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software preferred. Security screening required for Callaway Energy Center access. Qualified candidates are required to establish and maintain their permanent residence within sixty highway miles of the Callaway Energy Center.

Additional Information

The Procedure Writer works a standard day shift in an office/plant environment. Callouts and working rotating or Outage schedules may be required to support plant operations. Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include an assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$86,400.00 - $133,900.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
