Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, Admissions and Student Life department is looking for a Student Services Assistant to join the team! The Student Services Assistant will assist in the delivery and coordination of student services. Will provide main administrative support for the Admissions Office by overseeing the front desk, welcoming visitors, and providing customer service through email and phone. This position will also perform financial aid activities to include responding to emails, helping with financial aid appeal reviews, federal loan certification and other related duties as assigned.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the Dental School Admissions Office front desk and provide customer service to in person visitors, email, and phone correspondence.
  • Assist in determining federal aid eligibility of applicants, certify loan applications, and review of aid appeals. Maintain currency on financial aid packaging schemes, state and federal regulations, and school policy.
  • Assist with student performance professional evaluation committee related tasks and activities.
  • Reviews incoming documents, makes preliminary assessments of student problems and issues and makes recommendations. Screens applicants for admission to program, department, or school. Refers more complex cases to senior staff.
  • Organizes, schedules and coordinates activities such as student receptions, recruitment, orientations, and special events. Disseminates event announcements and information. Facilitates logistics and arranges for special services and refreshments as needed. Assists in development of promotional material. Represents program, department or school at events activities or recruitment receptions on an as needed basis.
  • Acts as staff support to academic committees; takes notes and records minutes. Functions as liaison between academic unit and university offices.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Prior administrative and/or academic support services experience, as well as knowledge of financial aid programs.

The hourly rate range for this position is $25.07 - $27.45. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
