The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. SPA provides the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) technical expertise for decision support to ensure technical overmatch for the U.S. Armed Forces against any potential adversaries. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled exploring cutting-edge technology and helping government program managers evaluate, select, and manage research programs to transition promising technologies and ensure U.S. military forces retain technological superiority in the future.

SPA has an immediate need for a Special Operations Force Military Operations Analyst to provide onsite support in Arlington, VA.



Responsibilities

SPA seeks a former Special Operations Force service member with operational expertise to directly support the DARPA Front Office. Candidate will be a bridge-maker between DARPA senior staff/Program Managers and the Service, Combatant Command, and DoD organizations to establish enduring relationships and create advocacy for DARPA technology. Primary responsibilities will include serving as a liaison between DARPA offices and the U.S. Special Operations Command personnel, specifically to provide information and operational counsel to ensure that DARPA senior staff and PMs are aware of DoD operational challenges, capability gaps, and current and future concepts of operations. The successful candidate will assist in determining the technology application to address military operations challenges, identify relevant operational program concepts, and provide technical advice and recommendations on emerging military warfare and potential application of DARPA technology. Deliver counsel through written analysis, presentations, and other products for technology demonstrations, evaluations, and transitions.



Qualifications

Required:

    Bachelor's degree and 10+ years Special Operations Force servie with operational experience
  • Familiar with the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)
  • Active DoD Secret clearance and able to obtain TS/SCI
  • Good rapport at dealing with the public, expertise in customer engagement, excellent oral/written communication skills, and excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and respond to quick turn-around requests, and proficiency with modern PC systems and tools

Desired:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Advanced degree in a STEM field
  • Experience as a staff officer within Headquarters DoD, Military Service, or Combatant Command
  • Working knowledge of DARPA and DoD policies and procedures
  • Ability to translate warfighter needs, articulate capability gaps, and discuss current and projected Acquisition Programs within Special Operations organizations
