The Role

AXS is seeking a Director Tax Compliance to be responsible for the overall tax compliance for AXS' North American Operations. The incumbent has direct hands-on experience dealing with the various marketplace sales tax rules. The position reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance and works closely with the company's Financial Controller.

What Will You Do?




  • Will oversee all tax responsibilities for AXS in North America (specifically US and Canada).
  • Act as liaison with external tax consultants.
  • Key focus on marketplace sales tax policy/filings.
  • Own the TaxJar sales and use tax filing process.
  • Will directly manage 1099k reporting requirements for AXS' Marketplaces.
  • Manage the filing of state and local Tangible Personal Property Tax Renditions.
  • Research/respond to inquiries from taxing authorities.
  • Suggest improvements and implement new process ideas.
  • Prepare and file all non-income tax returns on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Own product taxability matrix.
  • Oversee state and local audits, specifically Sales Tax and Tangible Personal Property.
  • Maintain and track apportionment schedules.
  • Support the annual review and revision of the Company's Transfer Pricing arrangements.
  • Coach, Mentor, and manage direct reports



What Will You Bring?




  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Tax or Accounting
  • 6-8 years Related work experience
  • Pro-active, hands-on management experience
  • Experience in global, indirect tax transactions (VAT/GST) is a plus
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Detailed oriented with a focus on accuracy at all times, even when working under pressure to make deadlines
  • Strong business acumen and exhibits a professional demeanor
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate to finance and operational upper management
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting software systems
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)


Pay Scale: $141,090.00 - $160,000
