What You'll Do

As an Environmental Manager, you will manage and drive local implementation of environmental compliance, company policies and programs related to environmental management systems, and sustainable development; and oversees or performs the work necessary to ensure adherence to environmental regulations, and attainment of business values and objectives. Other duties include:

  • Serves as a member of the plant management team.
  • Ensure all required reports are completed and submitted to government agencies as required
  • Review new and existing environmental regulations and advise company management in order to assure full compliance.
  • Monitor company compliance with regulations through review of discharge monitoring reports, hazardous waste report, surveys and other documents and correspondence submitted to regulatory agencies, including reviewing reports from operating personnel in order to assure full compliance.
  • Advise company management on anticipated regulatory changes and prepare compliance strategies that will require significant capital investment or increases in operating costs in order to meet corporate business goals.
  • Assist Engineering and Operations in planning for compliance with regulations in connection with new or modified operations (e.g., new plants or processes, formulation changes) in order to assure compliance.
  • Conduct training for operating personnel in order to meet regulatory, safety and business needs.
  • Draft or assist in the preparation of permit and renewal applications, responses to notices of deficiency, notices of violations, surveys, reports and any other requests for information from environmental agencies.
  • Obtain Legal Department input on major permits, notice of violations, and other environmental compliance issues of a legal nature to assure full compliance.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering, Physical Science, Environmental Science or related technical field; CHMM preferred
  • 7+ years experience with environmental regulations relating to chemical industries
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations (local, state, federal); previous experience in NPDES permit compliance, TVOP reporting and compliance, Tier II EPCRA reporting; SPCC and SWPPP management all required.
  • Advanced computer skills and abilities (Including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, SAP)
  • Ability to read and understand general engineering drawings
  • Technical understanding of chemical manufacturing and processes
