We build assortments that are brand led, consumer right and appropriately segmented to win in the NAM marketplace.

Purpose and Overall Relevance for the Organization

The Assistant Merchandising Systems and Tools Manager is responsible for delivering speed through data quality and readiness through data automation, tool enhancements, and systems to support NAM product merchandising. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Systems Manager to have a thorough understanding of the digital tools, business processes, and how to leverage and enhance the systems to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and maintain data products and processes that support the Merchandising functions for the North American Market.
  • Provide ongoing support to system users and related business partners that utilize product data
  • Support projects that have a merchandising data impact or could benefit from merchandising data input.
  • Support market validation for data migration from Global to Local systems.
  • Lead project planning, change management, and user support for adoption of global business intelligence platform.
  • Create training materials for BI platform users and advocate for users to self-serve their report and dashboard construction.
  • Drive accuracy, integration, efficiency and sustainability of tools
  • Standardize and educate on how systems and product data should be used.
  • Implement a structured change management approach to support the education of individuals and teams to deliver a holistic understanding of the new tools and the product-led organization. Ensure a smooth transition and roll-out of solutions.
  • Support the business intelligence (reporting and data) platform for the new global platform

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Strong technical mind/skillset with a desire to get closer to the Sporting Goods business
  • Microsoft SQL experience with the ability to review SQL language queries and the ability to generate queries ad-hoc
  • Understanding in fundamental database design and development, ability to gather data from multiple sources and manipulate the data to develop demand-driven and action-based reporting and analysis
  • Experience with modern data and business intelligence platforms such as Databricks and Power BI strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; be able to work successfully both independently and cross-functionally with system consumers and stakeholders and translate their business needs to IT and software developers
  • Self-starter: learn new complex tools and processes both quickly and resourcefully
  • Problem solver: natural curiosity, desire to define problems, establish facts, analyze data, determine root cause(s), draw valid conclusions and propose viable business solutions while working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and manage multiple priorities to accomplish assignments simultaneously under tight timelines with strong attention to detail ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with an ability to think cross functionally and develop innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and familiarity with data visualization and tools
  • Critical thinking: consider market issues from a business perspective and develop/implement solutions with cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to effectively present in information and respond to questions from Assistant Managers, stakeholders, cross functional business leaders and peers



Requisite Education and Experience/ Minimum Qualification



  • University degree in business or IT
  • 1-3 years' experience with merchandising or product management systems
  • Microsoft SQL experience with the ability to review & generate SQL queries
  • Experience and/or exposure to generating dashboards in DataBricks and Power BI
  • Previous industry experience preferred

  • We officially returned to office in a hybrid work environment, working 3 days in office and 2 days remote. The working location of this position is Portland, Oregon.
