About this unit

The Corewell Health Butterworth OR department is a level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital. The department consists of twenty-one (21) operating rooms that provide 24/7 patient care including the support of procedures across the medical center in other departments. Our multidisciplinary team of providers including anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, surgical technicians, and support technicians collaborate to provide high quality, safe patient care. The surgical team is trained in many specialties including but not limited to orthopedic and neurosurgical trauma, acute care surgery, women's health, urology, oncology, and general surgery. The Butterworth operative department utilizes many care delivery technologies such as DaVinci and Rosa robotics, Stealth guided navigation, and intra-operative MRI technology. All of this combines to maintain our focus on safe, efficient patient-centered care.

Scope of work

Manages, supervises, coordinates, and plans all activities for a specified service line within perioperative services to ensure the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the service line. Collaborates with the leadership team to develop goals providing input related to the development and management of the budget. Develops policies and procedures in coordination with other leaders to support services in the provision of excellent clinical services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in nursing (BSN) Required.
  • Master's degree MS, MSN, MBS, MM, MHA, MPH or other related Preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant nursing experience Required.
  • 2 years of RN operating room or peri anesthesia experience Required.
  • 1-year supervisory experience or 2 years of demonstrated and progressive leader ability Required.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months.
  • AORN Nurse in OR (CNOR) Preferred.
  • Specialty Certification Required within 12 months.
  • CCI Nurse in OR (CNOR) or ABPANC Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) Preferred.
  • Corewell Health Supervisors are REQUIRED to obtain their nursing administration or professional/specialty certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire into the role.
