What is the Opportunity? This role is part of Group Risk Management (GRM) - U.S. Enterprise Risk, supporting the development of the independent risk oversight of the RBC U.S. strategic plan and execution of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Climate framework for the Combined US Operations (CUSO), RBC's Intermediate Holding Company (RIHC) and branches within the U.S. What will you do?
Responsible for the oversight of the design, development, and implementation of effective ESG/Climate programs for CUSO and lines of businesses. Develop/refine policy/standards/procedures and appropriate guidance documents and training material to facilitate implementation of CUSO ESG/Climate programs. Accountable for ensuring that a comprehensive assessment of CUSO ESG/Climate Risks are contemplated, where appropriate, via the CUSO Risk Taxonomy, the Risk Identification process, the CUSO strategic plan(s), and other applicable processes. Coordinate and lead stakeholder forums for identifying material risks with the lines of businesses (LoBs), CUSO GRM, and Senior Management. Provide input into the enhancement of key risk frameworks including the Risk Management Framework to ensure appropriate ESG/Climate oversight. Coordinate, as appropriate, with stakeholders at the Enterprise and LoBs to facilitate alignment across the organization. Oversee the segregation of duties between the 1LOD and 2LOD related to ESG/Climate Risks. Provide continuous oversight, feedback, and enhancement of the segregation of ESG/Climate responsibilities across the 2 LODs. Partner with 1LOD teams to integrate ESG/Climate considerations into decision-making processes, such as lending and investment strategies. Partner with colleagues in all 3 LODs, in a consultative manner to provide awareness of new ESG/Climate laws, regulations and best practices into bank processes and procedures. Accountable for implementation and oversight of processes related to governance, monitoring, and escalation of the CUSO ESG/Climate Risk metrics and escalating key risk insights as appropriate. Oversee climate-related risk stress testing and scenario analysis to inform capital planning and risk appetite decisions. Develop periodic/ad-hoc reporting on CUSO ESG/Climate programs for senior management, formal reviews, the board, and miscellaneous requests. Manage delivery of regulatory requests and examinations with bank regulators and external auditors. Responding to questions or inquiries from internal and external stakeholders concerning risks, plans, policies, procedures, etc. Assist with periodic reviews and requests for information from Internal Audit and various stakeholders across GRM organization. Support the development and publication of CUSO ESG/Climate externally published risk-related disclosures. Accountable for tracking and monitoring the passage of legal change, political engagement and government requests for information related to ESG/Climate risk. Oversee the team that performs independent ESG/Climate Risk management on for CUSO. Responsible for the team that conducts oversight, monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on ESG/Climate risks and mitigation activities throughout CUSO. Proactively stay informed of emerging trends, developments, and practices affecting climate risk.
What do you need to succeed?
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law or other related fields 8+ years previous experience work in a Risk Management, Controls, or Audit role in a Financial Services organization 5+ years in a people leadership role, managing team of 3+ professionals Knowledge of one or more key risk discipline (e.g., Enterprise, Market, Counterparty, Credit, Liquidity, Operational Risk). Experience with risk concepts and the three lines of defense concept; understanding these risks with respect to ESG and Climate. Ability to align ESG/Climate risk strategies with broader organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in ESG risk factors and frameworks and regulatory guidelines. Advanced ability to analyze complex data sets, build models for climate scenarios, and translate findings into actionable risk management strategies. Experience developing processes and controls Strong written and verbal communication skills Superior ability to analyze problems and strong attention to detail Team player; ability to successfully partner with colleagues across departments and/or divisions Ability to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, changing environment Ability to influence multiple stakeholders at different levels of an organization Experience managing complex projects and initiatives In-depth knowledge of MS Office

The expected salary range for this particular position is $160,000-$250,000 (New Jersey), depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
