JOB SUMMARY
Vaco Technology is currently seeking a Technical Lead (PowerBuilder / .NET) for a 6M C2H or Direct-Hire / Perm (based on candidate preference) opportunity that is located in Addison, TX 75001 (onsite 4-days per week). The Technical Lead (PowerBuilder / .NET) will spearhead development initiatives, foster innovation, and ensure project success. The Technical Lead (PowerBuilder / .NET) will enhance and modernize the software products to promote seamless collaboration.

  • Implement / Uphold Development Standards / QA Processes - Delivering Reliable / Secure / Scalable Solutions
  • Collaborate with Architects / Senior Developers / Infrastructure / DevOps - Designing Scalable / Maintainable / Efficient Solutions
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders / Product Owners - Defining Project Scope / Requirements / Timelines, etc.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams - Ensuring Seamless Integration of Software Solutions
  • Perform Code Reviews - Ensuring Adherence to Coding Standards / Best Practices | Improving Performance
  • Oversee QA Processes - Ensuring Delivery of High-Quality Bug-Free Applications

About the Project: The Technical Lead will join a SCRUM Team comprised of 8-9 total team members, including a mix of Developers / Engineers / QAs / Product Owners / SCRUM Masters, etc. The Technical Lead will be hands-on development 50% (individual contributor), modernization and optimization the PowerBuilder / .NET applications. The remaining 50% will be focused on leading the team in code reviews, design, modernization strategies, and execution with the end goal of advancing modern practices in view. This application is the main application that is utilized in all of their individual locations, handing and supporting regular day-to-day operations and operational logistics and is their mission-critical application utilized by 5K-6K+ individual users daily. Modernization of their current applications, across the board, is their objective for 2025. Currently, this team does not have very many applications hosted in Azure Cloud. The database modernization is another area that is under construction, where they have to determine if and/or which pieces should be moved from OnPrem to the cloud and how that migration will ultimately look. This Technical Lead will drive the process of overall modernization.

  • PowerBuilder / .NET Development (50%) - PowerScript / SQL (hands-on) | .NET Assemblies / WebServices (APIs) / PowerBuilder .NET Components / .NET Compiler / .NET Core | DevOps / CI/CD / Azure DevOps
  • Technical Debt Identification - Assess Codebase / Architecture / Overall System Design to Pinpoint Key Areas Hindering Future Development and/or Requiring Significant Effort to Address Later | Identify / Address Outdated/Legacy Code / Poor Database Design / Lack of Documentation / No Coding Standardization Practices / Monolithic/Rigid Design / Outdated UI, etc.
  • Version Control Systems - GIT (strongly preferred) / SVN, etc.
  • SCRUM / Agile Development / Methodology
