DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accounting Assistant, you will review, record, and process surcharge remittance forms and application/record of sale forms submitted by firearm dealers throughout the state. This will require verifying information received to determine completeness, accuracy, and compliance with rules and regulations. In this position, you will complete all required account adjustments, review discrepancies with the firearm dealer, allow ample time for resolution, and post corrected information to the dealer's account. This position utilizes the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) dealer transaction logs with surcharge remittance reports and ensures information is reported timely and accurately as mandated by law. You will have the opportunity to conduct audits of dealer accounts that are not compliant, make recommendations to the auditor for corrective action, and in response to a dealer or sheriff inquiry regarding accounts, research the status of each dealer's account and provide proper information. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
- An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing to work onsite full-time. Teleworking is not an option as part of this position's work schedule.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
- You must pass criminal history and background investigations if you do not have a current Pennsylvania State Police background on file.
