Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 10+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 8 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a Sr Princ Software Eng in the Space Systems business, you'll be a member of a dynamic and innovative team at General Dynamics Mission Systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and architecture, with a passion for designing scalable, efficient, and robust software solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architectural design and development of software systems, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineers, product managers, and customers, to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Define and enforce software architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and provide guidance to development teams to ensure alignment with the overall architecture.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality software development.
  • Mentor and guide software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and contribute to the overall software development lifecycle.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our software architecture remains modern and competitive.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Software Architect or similar role, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of software architecture patterns, design principles, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and microservices architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.

Workplace Options:
This position is fully onsite, where you will be part of the Scottsdale Arizona team.

Target salary range: USD $170,382.00/Yr. - USD $189,018.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
