Job Summary Overall Responsibilities: Manage, plan, and direct the Employee Concerns Program at Perry Nuclear Power Plant consistent with Vistra Nuclear policies and Core Values, Perry policies and procedures, and NRC regulations to advocate, support, nurture and promote a Safety Conscious Work Environment (as defined by the NRC) in order to ensure the safe, reliable, continuing, long-term operation of Perry Nuclear Power Plant, while protecting the health and safety of the public, employees, protecting the environment, and serving the long-term interests of the employees, customers, and shareholders.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the ECP program to provide an atmosphere where employees may raise concerns confidentially without fear of intimidation, harassment, discrimination or retaliation (10 CFR 50.7).
- Manage and direct the investigation of concerns raised by employees of Perry and the public to ensure that all concerns are properly documented, thoroughly investigated, comprehensive written reports prepared, investigation files assembled with a record of evidence to support the investigation and conclusions.
- Advise the Senior Vice President & Chief Nuclear Officer of concerns and potential problem areas through monthly reports and verbal briefings on the status, trends and conclusions resulting from investigation of employee concerns.
- Advise and make recommendations to the Vice President of Nuclear Operations, Senior Director of Engineering and Regulatory Affairs, and support all other senior level management to reinforce, promote and ensure that each department is pursuing a path that leads to advancement of a Safety Conscious Work Environment.
- Promote and maintain the reputation and trustworthiness of the ECP with the NRC, NEI, the National Employee Concerns Task Force, other nuclear plants, the Operating Review Committee and the public.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements
- 10 years of experience in the nuclear power industry
- Experience working at Perry Nuclear Power Plant
- Effective verbal communication and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills including presentations to senior management and external organizations
- Ability to match department goals and long-range objectives
Key Metrics
- Enhance professional relationships with the full spectrum of plant employees, supervision, and management
- Provide training, coaching and counseling for Perry supervisors, managers and employees relative to employee rights, 10 CFR 50.7, 10CFR 50.5, 10 CFR 50.9, Corporate Compliance Program, and techniques on how to effectively handle and deal with employee concerns.
