SITE COORDINATOR
YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES OFFICE
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for a Site Coordinator for the Division of Youth Opportunities (DYO) within the Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator & Assistant Program Coordinator, the position is responsible for the daily operation of a Recreation Worcester summer program site, as well as managing and directly supervising 10 to 20 employees (ages 15-24) over an 8 week period during the Summer. The position is responsible for actively participating in and occasionally facilitating staff training and meetings regarding program development. This individual will execute the Recreation Worcester activity curriculum daily, and provide job skills, conflict resolution, restorative justice, and family engagement for the youth participants. The position will assist in the continued positive youth development and coaching of staff and youth participants. This position will take the lead while supporting youth staff in the daily implementation of athletic, academic, and arts curriculum at a Recreation Worcester program site.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:



  • Assist in leading the on-site summer program, including meetings, community partnerships, scheduling staff, planning activities, and communicating with the Recreation Worcester Program Coordinator to ensure daily tasks are accomplished
  • Ensure program quality by reviewing curriculum, activities schedule, partner schedules, materials, and provide coaching to youth staff as needed
  • Support Assistant Site Coordinators and Youth Workers to implement daily summer program activities curriculum including preparing supplies and program areas
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records, incident reports, program documentation, daily attendance, and registration information
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth staff and youth participants regarding age-appropriate behavior and social skills
  • Liaise with families of Recreation Worcester participants to better support youth while encouraging family engagement


SECONDARY ELEMENTS:



  • Attend/lead regular staff meetings, communicate with Program Coordinator and other Division of Youth Opportunities Staff about the wellness and development of staff and youth participants
  • Provide leadership in cases of urgency or emergency in alignment with Recreation Worcester safety protocols.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to bring fresh ideas to programming
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations, organizations, and interests
  • Ability to work with students with special educational or emotional needs
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to build relationships and networking skills with participants, families, colleagues, and community members
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to provide leadership and make decisions


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Associate's degree in Human Services or other related field OR;


o An equivalent combination of education, training and three (3) years of experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered in lieu of the above requirements.



  • One (1) year of administrative experience
  • One (1) year of staff supervision experience
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
  • Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bilingual candidate
  • One (1) year of experience facilitating out of school activities and programming
  • Two (2) years of experience with staff or program participant supervision
  • Two (2) years of administrative experience
  • Worcester Resident


SALARY: $27.00 hourly, full-time, temporary, non-benefitted.
