Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

We Require

  • Three years of experience in the care and treatment of persons with mental health disorders and behavioral difficulties

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Experience in Behavioral Health

  • Working knowledge of the petitioning process for court-ordered treatment in Maricopa County

Job Contributions

  • Work with the psychiatric provider staff and mental health staff to determine which patients need involuntary treatment

  • Observe patients identified as needing involuntary treatment for symptoms of mental illness, including danger to self, danger to others, or symptoms indicating that the patient is persistently or acutely disabled or gravely disabled

  • Complete petition applications for involuntary, court-ordered treatment and coordinate with outpatient teams to initiate the petitioning process

  • Testify in court to observe patient behaviors

  • Identify patients who are on a court order for involuntary treatment and make that information available to provider staff

  • Maintain documentation for all patient contact

  • Assist provider staff in coordinating care with patient's outpatient clinic

Working Conditions

  • Must complete a thorough background check

  • Must be able to work inside a jail environment, consisting of working near inmates and other staff and indoors in a confined area handling multiple or complicated tasks

  • Requires accuracy, decision-making, and concentration skills to be vigilant in a teamwork environment

  • Performs a high volume of work under short deadlines or with time pressures to complete frequently changing and unscheduled tasks

  • May require travel between work locations. Teleworking, hybrid schedules, and weekend work may be required
