Editorial Intern - Humanities and Social Science Educational Publishing

Pay Rate: $16.50/hour

What will you be doing and learning?

As an editorial intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the development of instructional materials, digital assets, and higher education course content. You will work closely with development and media editors to support course design and content creation, helping to shape learning experiences for students and instructors. This internship provides an opportunity to engage with key aspects of educational publishing, including content audits, competitive research, and the preparation of both digital and print learning resources. This internship offers valuable exposure to course design, educational publishing, and the evolving landscape of higher education content development.

• Assist with digital asset content development, including interactive learning materials and multimedia resources, ensuring content is well-structured and aligned with course goals
• Assist development editors in manuscript assembly and preparation for production
• Assist media editors in building media assets to create digital courseware
• Assist with permissions and production logs, tracking content rights and usage
• Conduct title-specific competitive research to assess market trends and inform content development
• Compile errata and reprint corrections to ensure accuracy
• Perform content audits, identifying areas for improvement in course materials, including evaluating content for diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Support interviews and focus groups, gathering valuable insight on the needs of instructors and students
• Contribute to the development of sales tools, transition guides, and competitive charts to support instructors and sales teams
• Provide general administrative support as needed across the Humanities and Social Science Development Editorial and Media Editorial teams

• You must be enrolled in a degreed program (i.e. Bachelor's, Master's, etc)
• We will accept applicants graduating from their degree in Spring 2025
• Recent graduates within the last 6 months will be considered
• Must submit a cover letter expressing interest in the internship
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with a strong command of the English language
• Capable of and committed to reviewing work for accuracy, consistency, and quality
• Able to think critically to analyze content and customer feedback, ask important questions, diagnose problems, and create practical solutions
• Enjoys interacting and working with others to produce high-quality educational products
• Highly focused and productive, with a can-do attitude and team spirit
• Enthusiastic about continuing to learn new technology systems and processes and new ways of working
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace

Physical Requirements: Position requires concentrated screen time for long periods as well as multi-tasking; working in an open-office environment.

This is a hybrid position that requires being in the Boston or NYC office 1-2 days each week
