UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech Therapist I to join our multidisciplinary team at the Center for Rehab Care in Chapel Hill, NC. This full-time position (40 hours per week) offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality care to adult patients with neurological conditions in an outpatient setting.

Location & Travel: This position is primarily based at our Meadowmont Neurology and Center for Rehab Care locations. Some travel between clinics will be required, offering a dynamic and varied work experience.

As a Speech Therapist I, you'll provide comprehensive speech and language therapy for individuals with neurological conditions, helping patients regain functional communication, cognition, and swallowing abilities. You'll have the chance to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and participate in specialized clinical programs. Your role will also involve working directly with patients, scheduling, and coordinating care as needed.

Schedule Flexibility: This position offers flexible scheduling, including the possibility to adjust shifts throughout the week. Saturdays are included, with pay differentials for weekend hours.

This role provides the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, including individuals from both typical and underserved communities. You will play a key role in improving patient outcomes, mentoring graduate students, and contributing to the development of innovative care strategies.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care: Conduct comprehensive, evidence-based evaluations and provide personalized treatment to patients with neurological conditions, addressing communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs.
  2. Assessment & Testing: Perform thorough assessments to determine appropriate therapy goals and interventions, ensuring optimal patient progress and outcomes.
  3. Mentorship & Education: Mentor graduate Speech Therapy students and clinical fellows, sharing expertise and contributing to the development of best practices in neurorehabilitation.
  4. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans, adjusting strategies based on patient progress and feedback.
  5. Community Engagement: Participate in clinic outreach initiatives, such as food banks and health programs, to assist underserved populations in accessing care and improving wellness.
  6. Quality Improvement: Maintain detailed patient records, contributing to ongoing efforts to improve care delivery and patient outcomes in the clinic.

Education Requirements:
* Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Speech-Language Pathology certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).Licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* One (1) year of experience in the field of Speech Pathology.
