Job Summary:
UW Conferences & Events was created in 2022 to provide a centralized intake and brand strategy for UW-Madison. The Sales Specialist is responsible for generating new business and revenue growth for all venues and services in the UW Conferences & Events portfolio. Currently this consists of Memorial Union, Union South, Pyle Center, Fluno Center, Discovery Building, and Conference Management. It is expected that a variety of sales strategies and campaigns will be employed to bring additional conferences and events to the UW-Madison campus. Working closely with the Director of UW Conferences & Events, the Sales Specialist will oversee the process of lead generation and moving prospects through the sales cycle. Included in this role is thorough documentation of sales activities, booked business and associated revenue, and tracking lost business for future conversion. Responsibilities: Responsible for a variety of professional level work across a variety of administrative service areas including budget, finance, procurement, and human resources with impact across the institution in support of unit or institutional goals.

Education: Preferred Qualifications: Required: -Minimum 2 years of B2B experience, sales experience in B2B outside sales, preferably in event sales, hospitality, or conference services, with a documented history of meeting and exceeding revenue targets. Work Type: Full Time: 100% Appointment Type, Duration: Terminal, 25 month appointment. Salary: Minimum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months) The anticipated starting salary of any person hired for this position will be the amounts stated above. Additional Information: The Wisconsin Union operates from several buildings on the UW-Madison campus including Memorial Union, Union South, Fluno Center, Pyle Center, University Club, Red Gym, and the Student Activity Center. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.
