POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Plant Controller and supporting the Plant Operations team, the Cost Accountant/Analyst will support complex financial and cost accounting concepts and techniques for financial planning and control. This role relies on analytical abilities and experience to sort through data to provide required accounting deliverables and to prepare meaningful information to assist management with decision making. This role will use current financial information and analysis to make recommendations for procedure / process improvements for further improve financial performance of the organization.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Monitor, analyze, investigate, and report variances to standard, budget, and prior periods, as well as recommend corrective/ improvement actions.
  • Perform month end financial close process for manufacturing operations including journal entries, account reconciliations, etc.
  • Provide financial measurement support for site projects (i.e. Productivity, Lean Initiatives, Cost Reduction, etc.)
  • Compile, maintain, and review operation metrics (KPI's) for Site Management.
  • Conducts special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepares recommendations for management decisions.
  • Analyzes financial information to determine present and future financial performance.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to support preparation of General Ledger Journal Entries and to inform Operations Management.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries.
  • Assists organization's controller in the development of the budget, planning, and other corporate financial requirements.
  • Assists Operations Finance Organization (Controller / Regional Controller) with preparation of Capital Requests, including quantifying of cost savings vs. cost avoidance. Will support local leadership with approval process of Capital requests.
  • Assists local leadership with proper classification of capitalization vs expenditure for CAPEX projects and analyzes capital investment requests to ensure healthy returns on investment while managing risks.
  • Supports the cycle count program in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Interprets and applies corporate financial policies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, financial guidelines, and the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX).

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required, BS accounting highly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 5+ years related cost accounting experience.
  • CMA or CPA preferred
  • Knowledge of QAD, SAP, and PowerBI preferred.
  • Strong computer, quantitative and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proven leadership through relevant experience.
  • Experience with working with multiple levels of the organization.
  • Experience converting to or working in a lean manufacturing environment, and exposure to working with standard cost systems.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software, Internet software, spreadsheet software to include Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills, and the ability to assimilate quickly to an ERP environment.
