Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support Ophthalmology's Cataract and Refractive Surgery clinic in Westwood. This role plays a key role to ensure efficient clinic workflows and a positive patient experience.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Check patients in and out
  • Screen incoming calls and schedule patient appointments
  • Collect payments
  • Assist with billing preparation andobtain authorizations
  • Process medical records requests and manage document scanning/filing in EMR
  • Manage the office calendar
Salary Range: $25.60-$36.33 Hourly
Qualifications

Required:


  • Ability to schedule, check in/out, and encounter patients in the appointment registration system.
  • Understanding of basic ophthalmic terminology and familiarity with the signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic problems so as to answer patient questions and know when urgent evaluation is indicated.
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction and in timely manner
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly in person and on the telephone to communicate to physicians, patients, staff, and other individuals.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and adaptable in an expanding and ever-changing office.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy and stressful environment while maintaining a calm, caring, efficient, and engaging demeanor.
  • Ability to set and follow through on priorities and complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in work-load, pressures, and deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, co-workers, patients, and others.
  • Skill in recognizing and managing emergency situations.
  • Ability to run Apple and Windows operating systems, email, web browsers, text editors, spreadsheets, calendars, EMR, etc.
  • Ability to handle heavy telephone traffic and assist callers with their needs or refer them appropriately.
