Wieland is hiring a Safety, Health, & Environmental (SHE) Manager. The Safety, Health, & Environmental Manager is a critical leadership role for the success of the Wieland Group's ambitious global vision of "Everyone goes home safe, every day". The Safety, Health, & Environmental Manager will support our operational teams in managing SHE initiatives, programs, and incident prevention activities. This position will also be responsible for creating and implementing safety programs, policies, training, and procedures relevant to the site(s) which results in building a positive, engaging, and proactive safety culture. Being a leader at Wieland means promoting the core values and the SHE culture throughout the organization, leading by example and setting the tone within your area(s) of responsibility. The ideal candidate will exercise independent judgment regarding assigned responsibilities and consult site leadership and global SHE director when applicable. This person will be a people leader and be responsible for coaching and developing direct reports to ensure they have all the tools needed for success. This role is located on-site in Pine Hall, NC.
Responsibilities
Safety, Health, & Environmental Manager Responsibilities:
Builds positive, collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization in support of Wieland's global safety strategy to meet company goals and objectives.
- Working as a liaison between global SHE, local leadership, and maintenance/operations teams to foster collaboration and buy-in.
- Develop and implement applicable SHE policies, procedures, training, auditing, reporting, and tracking processes in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Owns data entry and uses established tools & processes to ensure data accuracy, analyzes trends and delivers reports in a timely manner, including incident reporting, SIF/PSIF, auditing, environmental metrics, risk assessments, SHE actions items and other pertinent information.
- Lead and manage efforts in continuous process improvement and taking proactive safety measures to prevent incidents. Complete risk assessments, self-assessments and recommend control measures for all potential areas of concern.
- Establish and maintain facility specific management plans for hazardous waste and materials. Audit the treatment, storage, disposal, and recycling facilities that handle, process, and dispose all operational wastes.
- Lead incident and near miss reporting. Perform root cause analysis on events and incidents to determine specific actions needed to prevent their reoccurrence.
- Evaluate non-standard tasks to uncover risks and identify corrective actions.
- Coach/mentor site management and employees on safe work practices, hazard identification and risk management including establishing and leading a safety committee.
- Manages the environmental permitting, TSCA, Tier II/III, TRI, hazardous waste and emissions.
- Manage the safety data sheet and new chemical request process.
- Oversee the facility emergency management to ensure appropriate training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness and crisis management. Ensure drills and equipment are in a ready state and effective communication of responsibilities to personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Safety, Health, & Environmental Manager Qualifications:
- Must have 7+ years experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years experience in ISO14001, 45001, and/or 9001.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or related fields (Preferred)
- Advanced certifications in SHE (Preferred)
