A Brief Overview

This position serves as the single point of contact with new oncology patients, from initial phone call until start of treatment; to assist the patient in obtaining an appointment with Oncologists at the appropriate location based on patient preference and technology availability.

What You Will Do



  • Responsible for receiving and processing all incoming phone calls and web requests from patients, families, and referral sources for all newly diagnosed general oncology patients and second opinions seeking to come to Seidman Cancer Center for Oncology services. Coordinates appointments for new patients with multiple providers across all Seidman locations. Collects registration information for new patients.
  • Collaborates with Patient Access to coordinate ancillary appointments for patients before and/or after their first visit.
  • Assists patients in retrieving all materials necessary for their initial appointment, including outside imaging films, pathology slides, specimens, operative reports, medical records, etc. Ensures all materials have been reviewed and received as appropriate by the clinical team prior to the initial patient appointment.
  • Serves as a liaison between patients and families, financial counselors, and case managers providing services to cancer patients.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
