Department Summary The College of Health and Public Service (HPS) at the University of North Texas, distinguished as one of the few Tier One research universities designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), prepares graduates to address complex social issues such as aging, disability, disaster management and recovery, criminal justice, health disparities, and public safety, and find solutions to challenges in public administration, public health, and urban planning. We have seven academic departments with undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Public Management, the UNT Speech and Hearing Center, UNT Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment (WISE) and a number of professional development and clinical training programs to facilitate careers to address a global society. Position Overview The Social Work Senior Administrative Specialist provides support to the academic department and Chair, acting as a liaison with the College of Health & Public Service and UNT-wide offices. Responsibilities include providing a wide variety of administrative support to the Chair and faculty. This includes coordinating class scheduling and textbook adoptions, facilitating program communications for the degrees, and coordinating student employment requests. Additionally, the role involves managing departmental tasks related to admissions and registration, maintaining departmental and student records, and executing correspondence and calendar maintenance. The specialist also handles requests for purchasing, payroll, and other financial support from the college while managing other general logistical and administrative needs for the department. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and three years' of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
